Last Minute Gift Ideas for Grandma

Mother's Day weekend is here! It is too late to place most online orders for Mother's Day delivery so I wanted to share some sweet DIY gift ideas for grandma. It is no secret that these have been trying times. My daughter, even at age three, can express to me that it has been hard not seeing grandma and grandpa like we usually do. I think now more than ever, it is super important and would be extra special to make something homemade for grandma for Mother's Day.

This was taken a few months ago, one of the last times we saw grandma in person!
1. Bake grandma something yummy!
I am not a baker by any means, but my go-to recipe is a hummingbird cake
It is a great Mother's Day dessert.

2. Make a handmade card for grandma with craft supplies around the house.
You don't need anything special to make a sweet birthday card. You can use paper, glue, dry pasta noodles, markers, paint, whatever you have on hand! It will always be special.

3. Stop by a local nursery or grocery store and buy grandma a plant for her garden.
I love giving plants as gifts because they are the gifts that keep on giving. I have a special section in my garden for plants that have been gifted to me.

4. FaceTime with grandma for story time before bed.
We have been doing this lately and it would be super special to do on Mother's Day. We call grandma   on FaceTime and she reads us a bedtime story.

5. Cook grandma a delicious dinner and drop it off on her porch.
I am much more of a cook than a baker so this is more up my alley. I am a soup maker so I would make grandma soup or stuffed cabbage rolls. It would be extra special to make this meal with your little one and deliver it to grandma with a note.

6. An "IOU"book
Ask your little one all the things they want to do with grandma when they get to see her again, print them out and make a cute little IOU book for grandma to redeem when the current situation has passed.

Happy Mother's Day!

Finding BLISS in quarantine life

To be completely honest, quarantine life has been hard. I am balancing between working, entertaining an energetic almost-three-year-old, constantly cleaning our house, laundry, cooking meals, grooming dogs, doing landscaping, etc.etc (phew...I am exhausted just typing all of that!), but between the chaos there have been major moments of pure bliss! There is this magic that I have discovered when we stay home and see what life is like without rushing between classes and playgroups. There is this slow time that occasionally happens where I can just be a kid with my kid. To me, that is pure bliss!

The other day, a friend dropped off a bubble machine on our front porch for Charlie. It was the sweetest thing to just see how much joy bubbles brought all of us. Charlie had fun dancing in the bubbles & trying to pop them.

I live for the moments when she wants me to hold her and comfort her. Charlie is normally always on the go, but when she needs her mommy, I cannot wait to hold her close.

One thing that has always brought me so much joy is getting Charlie dressed in adorable outfits. During our years of infertility, I dreamt of all the outfits I would dress my little one in! It has been so fun watching Charlie grow and dressing her along the way.

The dress Charlie is wearing is from Bella Bliss, one of my favorite classic children's clothing boutiques! She is wearing the Milly Pima Dress, which I absolutely love because it is beautiful, but it is also made of the softest Pima cotton so Charlie can still run around in it and have fun.

Mother's Day Gifts for the Gardener

"To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow." - Audrey Hepburn

I have always been told that the start of planting season is Mother's Day. Gardening is one of my most favorite past times in the summer months. I absolutely love planting and watching things grow. My husband thinks I am crazy because I talk to my plants, but I like to think that I inherited my grandma's  green thumb (she is actually a master gardener). Anyway, I put together a list of Mother's Day gifts that I think would be great for a garden mama! Enjoy!
Boots are a necessity for any gardener! These classic green boots look like Hunters for a fraction of the cost at Target.

Copper is one of my favorite metals. I love how classic these herb markers are.

I have never used a water orb because I think they generally look silly. This one looks so cool1

I love a good sunhat. You can't go wrong with Madewell!

This is a great way to keep all the garden tools organized. This is a great alternative for someone who doesn't have a lot of room to store a potting bench.

I posted about this set in my stories and I absolutely love it! It is a good price for a high quality and beautifully packaged product.

This bird house is awesome! I love how natural this looks and would be beautiful to look out in the yard and see this in a tree.

My new plan for my garden is to attract as many butterflies as possible. I love the this kit is specifically for butterfly gardens.

Great gloves at a good price!

This is a little silly, but I thought it was cute. I think I am technically a "crazy plant lady" LOL

I have always loved this Gardeners Hand Cream. I love that it is specifically labeled for gardeners so it looks so special in a garden themed gift basket.

Since we are still on lockdown here in Michigan, I thought giving my mother the gift of bulbs, instead of a live plant, would be easier.

This watering can is a classic!
