Kitchen Tour

The kitchen...the heart of the home!
When we started building our house, the first place we focused on was the kitchen. We knew we wanted certain things and we just had to make it work in the space we were allotted, which was dictated by our land. One thing I knew for certain is that I wanted our kitchen to be primarily white, but I wanted the kitchen island wood top to "pop". I also knew I wanted a kitchen island similar in size to my old kitchen island. I also wanted a farm sink, floor to ceiling cabinetry (for LOTS of storage) and a designated coffee area.

My husband and I both wanted a gas range. We had a gas range at our first home, but when we sold our home and moved into a rental home while building this home, we had electric and it was awful! I love to cook and I love to cook on gas!

We chose an antique brass finish for all of the hardware and plumbing.
I especially love these bin pulls from Rejuventation!

We had a change of plans midway through the design and reworked the cabinetry to accommodate this built in Miele coffee/espresso machine.

On the right hand side of the oven, we placed a fun spice drawer.

About Me

Welcome to Porcelain & Plaid.

This space was created as a place for me to share all aspects of my life- the pretty and the messy!
I am a midwest mom who has a passion for home decor and celebrating life! I have a daughter named Charlie and two fur babies named Maggie and Dolly. I also have an angel baby in Heaven named Penelope Grace.

My husband, Greg, and I have had quite the journey becoming parents. We spent five years trying to conceive and pursuing different fertility treatments.
Despite the crazy ups and downs of our infertility journey, I  have decided to pursue what makes me happy and create charming experiences for my family and friends.

I love designing and redesigning my home, hosting parties, and celebrating life!
We recently built our dream home, a stone farmhouse, and look forward to many new memories made there.

Much love,

Allie
